Nikolay Kapustin hosted the meeting in Minsk.
The deputy director for innovation work, Kitikov Oleg Vadimovich, informed about the center and its activities. Nikolay Kapustin presented some basic data regarding geographic and climatic conditions in Belarus and also gave an overview on agriculture structure and production.
Ola Palm recapitulated previous work and current status in WP3. Martin Sundberg presented a compilation of some data from the draft Country Reports. The general opinion of the meeting was that this could be an effective measure to reduce leakage of nutrients, but more data and research is still needed on if and how N & P can be reduced in feeding.
Peter Wallenberg gave an introduction to the discussion of how we could include economic aspects in the WP3 work. Economy for the implementation of a certain measure is quite important for the farmer, and this can vary much between countries depending on differences in the subsidy system. Economical comparisons between countries could be a useful tool to understand differences in implementation level.
The coming work with Work Package 3 ATLAS was discussed. Ola recapitulated the planned strategy towards ATLAS and steps involved in this work, including the use of Case Farms. As decided at the WP3-meeting in Riga may 2010, Latvian partner ZSA will coordinate the work to produce the Atlas. Until next meeting ZSA will apply the planned approach on at least one of their selected Case Farms to find a useful format for this work. They were also asked to come up with ideas and suggestions on suitable format and content of ATLAS.
